Read Quran Surah Al Kahfi ayat 109-110

سُوۡرَةُ الکهف
قُل لَّوۡ كَانَ ٱلۡبَحۡرُ مِدَادً۬ا لِّكَلِمَـٰتِ رَبِّى لَنَفِدَ ٱلۡبَحۡرُ قَبۡلَ أَن تَنفَدَ كَلِمَـٰتُ رَبِّى وَلَوۡ جِئۡنَا بِمِثۡلِهِۦ مَدَدً۬ا (١٠٩) قُلۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۟ بَشَرٌ۬ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمۡ إِلَـٰهٌ۬ وَٲحِدٌ۬‌ۖ فَمَن كَانَ يَرۡجُواْ لِقَآءَ رَبِّهِۦ فَلۡيَعۡمَلۡ عَمَلاً۬ صَـٰلِحً۬ا وَلَا يُشۡرِكۡ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ أَحَدَۢا (١١٠)






Al-Kahf
Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind). "If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely, the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished, even if we brought (another sea) like it for its aid." (109) Say (O Muhammad SAW): "I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your Ilâh (God) is One Ilâh (God — i.e. Allâh). So whoever hopes for the Meeting[] with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord." (110)


Al-Kahf
Say: "If the ocean were ink (wherewith to write out) the words of my Lord, sooner would the ocean be exhausted than would the words of my Lord, even if we added another ocean like it, for its aid." (109) Say: "I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me, that your God is one God: whoever expects to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness, and in the worship of his Lord, admit no one as partner." (110)


GUA
Katakanlah: "Kalau sekiranya lautan menjadi tinta untuk [menulis] kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, sungguh habislah lautan itu sebelum habis [ditulis] kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, meskipun Kami datangkan tambahan sebanyak itu [pula]. (109) Katakanlah: "Sesungguhnya aku ini hanya seorang manusia seperti kamu, yang diwahyukan kepadaku: "Bahwa sesungguhnya Tuhan kamu itu adalah Tuhan Yang Esa". Barangsiapa mengharap perjumpaan dengan Tuhannya maka hendaklah ia mengerjakan amal yang saleh dan janganlah ia mempersekutukan seorangpun dalam beribadat kepada Tuhannya". (110)




GUA

Al-Kahf
De ki: Rabbimin sözleri için derya mürekkep olsa ve bir o kadar da ilâve getirsek dahi, Rabbimin sözleri bitmeden önce deniz tükenecektir. (109) De ki: Ben, yalnızca sizin gibi bir beşerim. (Şu var ki) bana, İlâh`ınızın, sadece bir İlâh olduğu vahyolunuyor. Artık her kim Rabbine kavuşmayı umuyorsa, iyi iş yapsın ve Rabbine ibadette hiçbir şeyi ortak koşmasın. / (110)




LA CAVERNE
Dis: «Si la mer était une encre [pour écrire] les paroles de mon Seigneur, certes la mer s’épuiserait avant que ne soient épuisées les paroles de mon Seigneur, quand même Nous lui apporterions son équivalent comme renfort.» (109) Dis: «Je suis en fait un être humain comme vous. Il m’a été révélé que votre Dieu est un Dieu unique! Quiconque, donc, espère rencontrer son Seigneur, qu’il fasse de bonnes actions et qu’il n’associe dans son adoration aucun autre à son Seigneur». (110)

Read Quran : Surah Al Kahfi

It is recommended to recite Surat al-Kahf completely the night before Friday, and it is also recommended to do so Friday itself, before Maghrib time. Ibn Abidin said, �And it is best to do so early on Friday, in order to rush to the good and to avoid forgetting. � [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar, �Bab al-Jumu`ah�]

Imran N. Hosein - Surah Al Kahf And The Modern Age (1/10)






Rasulullah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: "Friday is the best of days. It was on this day that Hadrat Aadam alayhis salaam was created, it was on this day that he was granted entry into jannah, it was on this day that he was removed from jannah (which became the cause for man's existence in this universe, and which is a great blessing), and the day of resurrection will also take place on this day. " (Sahih Muslim)

From Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri, who said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah).”

(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6471)

Al-Maeda
O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks. (6)




Al-Maeda
O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salât (the prayer), wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles[]. If you are in a state of Janâba (i.e. after a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body). But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes after answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands.[] Allâh does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favour to you that you may be thankful (6)



Al-Maeda
Wahai orang-orang yang beriman, apabila kamu hendak mengerjakan sembahyang (padahal kamu berhadas kecil), maka (berwuduklah) iaitu basuhlah muka kamu, dan kedua belah tangan kamu meliputi siku dan sapulah sebahagian dari kepala kamu dan basuhlah kedua belah kaki kamu meliputi buku lali dan jika kamu berjunub (berhadas besar) maka bersucilah dengan mandi wajib dan jika kamu sakit (tidak boleh kena air) atau dalam pelayaran atau salah seorang dari kamu datang dari tempat buang air atau kamu sentuh perempuan, sedang kamu tidak mendapat air (untuk berwuduk dan mandi), maka hendaklah kamu bertayamum dengan tanah (debu) yang bersih, iaitu: Sapulah muka kamu dan kedua belah tangan kamu dengan tanah debu itu. Allah tidak mahu menjadikan kamu menanggung sesuatu kesusahan (kepayahan), tetapi Dia berkehendak membersihkan (mensucikan) kamu dan hendak menyempurnakan nikmatNya kepada kamu, supaya kamu bersyukur. / (6)

Read Quran As-Sajda 32:16 "Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope:




"Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them." [As-Sajda 32:16]

سُوۡرَةُ السَّجدَة
تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلۡمَضَاجِعِ يَدۡعُونَ رَبَّہُمۡ خَوۡفً۬ا وَطَمَعً۬ا وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ يُنفِقُونَ (١٦)


As-Sajda
Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them. (16)




As-Sajda
Mereka merenggangkan diri dari tempat tidur, (sedikit sangat tidur, kerana mengerjakan sembahyang tahajud dan amal-amal soleh); mereka sentiasa berdoa kepada Tuhan mereka dengan perasaan takut (akan kemurkaanNya) serta dengan perasaan ingin memperolehi lagi (keredaanNya) dan mereka selalu pula mendermakan sebahagian dari apa yang Kami beri kepada mereka. (16)

SUJUD
Lambung mereka jauh dari tempat tidurnya [2], sedang mereka berdo’a kepada Tuhannya dengan rasa takut dan harap, dan mereka menafkahkan sebahagian dari rezki yang Kami berikan kepada mereka. (16)

As-Sajda
Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (in charity in Allâh's Cause) out of what We have bestowed on them[] (16)

"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say something good or keep quiet." [Bukhari]

Famous companion, Sayyidna Muaz ibn Jabal, Radi-Allahu anhu, once asked the Prophet Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, "Tell me about an act that will cause me to enter Paradise and be protected from the Fire." "You have indeed asked something profound," responded the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, "But it will be easy on whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate any partners with Him. Establish regular Salat, pay Zakat, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj." Then he asked "Shall I not tell you about the doors of good: fast is a shield (against sins and against Hell-fire), charity extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire; and the midnight Salat (the voluntary Tahajjud Salat)." Then he recited this verse: "Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them." [As-Sajda 32:16]

Then he continued: "Shall I tell you about the beginning, the mainstay and the high point of this? The beginning is (acceptance of) Islam; It's mainstay is Salat; it's highest point is Jihad."

Then the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, asked: "Shall I tell you about the thing on which all this depends?" He, then held his tongue and said "Guard this." Sayyidna Muaz ibn Jabal, Radi-Allahu anhu, asked: "Shall we be questioned about our utterances?" On this the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said, "Most people will be thrown into Hell---face down---because of the transgressions of their tongues."

The ability to speak and express themselves separates human beings from animals. The proper use of this great gift---or its absence---separates the good and successful people from the bad and unsuccessful ones.

Sayyidna Mu'adh's question was about eternal success. In response, the hadith mentions both mandatory and voluntary good deeds that cover a person's entire life. But then we are reminded that the outcome of all these depends upon guarding our tongue. In other words carelessness with the tongue can poke holes in all of our good deeds.

Another hadith highlights the same issue in a different way: "Every morning all the limbs of a person plead with his tongue: 'Fear Allah for our sake, for our fate is tied to yours. If you follow the straight path so shall we. And if you go astray so shall we.'"

Yet another hadith reminds us about the far reaching consequences of the words we utter. "Sometimes a person says something good but he does not realize how far will his words go. Yet it earns him the pleasure of Allah till the day he will meet Him. On the other hand sometimes a person says something bad, although he does not realize how far his words will go. Yet it earns him the wrath of Allah till the day he will meet Him." [Tirmizi, Ibn Maja, Muwwata Imam Malik].

The pre-Islamic Arab society was a very vocal society. While reading and writing were not that common, people did pride themselves in their facility with words---both prose and poetry. A person commanded respect based on his command over words. Using power of words only, they could sink reputations, start wars, and impact life in a similar fashion as modern media has come to demonstrate on a much larger scale. Then, as now, it was raw power like the power of the beasts of the Jungle.

Islam tamed this beast. It reminded us that each and every word we utter is being recorded by the angels and one day we will have to stand accountable for all this record. It reminded that a person's greatness lies not in how powerful he is with words but in how careful is he with them. It reminded that it is better to keep silent than to say something bad. And it is better to say something good than to keep quiet.

The social revolution it engendered was unprecedented. It produced a people who truly understood the value of words and who were as pious with them as they had been powerful. Their silence was the silence of quiet reflection. And they spoke only when they could improve the silence. Is it any wonder that even their extempore statements were pearls of wisdom.

Today, everywhere there are schools that can teach one how to read, write, and speak a language. But their students would never learn how to civilize this raw power; to use it only in promoting truth and spreading virtue; to never use it for promoting falsehood or spreading evil.

There is a lot of unlearning we have to do if we want to get out of this. It is a costly mistake for a believer to think that talk is cheap; that you can say whatever is expedient without any concern for any consequences beyond the immediate ones.

Such attitudes, prevalent today, lead to all kinds of sins: vain pursuits, gossip, dishonesty, insincerity, arrogance, belittling others, backbiting, spreading scandals and corruption, telling lies. Each of these has been clearly defined as a deadly sin by the Qur'an and Hadith. The treatment for each of these sins begins with learning the Islamically responsible use of the tongue. Then there are secondary problems caused in turn by these. In fact most of the problems in the family, in the society, and even between countries are either created or augmented by the irresponsible use of the tongue.

Modern communication technologies have made it possible for messages to be transmitted instantaneously all over the globe. But as the world marvels at these achievements, it continues to confuse the speed of a message with its quality and value. We pride ourselves on the ability to spread trash around the world at the speed of light. Witness the rubbish that continues to dominate the Internet alone. We are amazed by the sophisticated techniques of telling lies in a convincing manner. Witness the modern mainstream media machine and its hold on our thoughts and actions.

The "information age" is begging for the moral guidance of Islam.

Men Around Prophet [Peace be upon him] - Ma`az bin Jabal
